From free ice-skating and swimming, arts & crafts, to going back in time in one of our local museums, you’re bound to find the perfect activity to celebrate this very special stat holiday with your clan on Feb 8, 2016 in Langley, Surrey, Chilliwack and Abbotsford.
Langley
1. Family Day at Fort Langley National Historic Site
Step away from technology and spend Family Day having good, old-fashioned fun at the Fort. Starting at 10 am, put your kids to work, the old-fashioned way, with 19th century family chores. From 2 pm to 3 pm, take photos of your kids in historical outfits while they play dress up. Afterwards, watch blacksmith demonstrations, coopering demonstrations and earn a prize by completing the family scavenger hunt.

2. Family Day at Langley Golf & Banquet Centre
Celebrate Family Day by playing golf with the whole clan. Juniors under the age of 16 get to golf for free. Their Monday Special applies to everyone else….2 can play 9 holes for $20, or 2 can play 18 holes for $25.

3. Family Day at the Canadian Museum of Flight
Museum tours, complimentary hot apple cider and caramel popcorn, kids craft table and colouring contest. Have your photo taken in a real Canadian Snowbirds jet. Admission by donation.

4. Family Day Skate ~ Canlan Ice Sports Twin Rinks
To celebrate Family Day in BC, the City of Langley is hosting a FREE family skate at Canlan Ice Sports Twin Rinks. Space is limited, so please arrive early to ensure you can participate.
When: Feb. 8, 2016 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

5. Family Day Skate ~ Langley Sportsplex
Free public skating is being offered on Family Day from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Langley Sportsplex.
Time: 3-4:30 p.m.

6. Peace Play Day
Visit Willowbrook Shopping Centre for Peace Play Day. This free, kid-friendly event features activities, demonstrations, and exhibits to celebrate world peace and harmony.
When: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

7. Fraser Valley Family Day
The 2nd annual Fraser Valley Family Day, presented by C&D Logistics in partnership with JRFM & the LEC, promises to be bigger & better than ever! From face painting, balloon animals and bouncy castles to appearances by pro athletes from the Vancouver Stealth and the BC Lions, there’s something for everyone in your whole family to enjoy. Monies raised will go to the Township of Langley Fire Department, Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) and the Life Ready Foundation. And while you’re visiting the centre, swing over to the ice at 1 p.m. to watch the Chilliwack Chiefs play against the Langley Rivermen. Admission to the game is by donation. Afterwards, enjoy a free family post-game skate with the Langley Rivermen.

8. Family Day at Langley Centennial Museum
You are invited to attend this fun family event that includes a scavenger hunt, arts & crafts, and a photo booth! There is something for everyone to do. Partake in the various free activities, music, crafts and more for the whole family.

Chilliwack
9. Family Day Pancake Breakfast
The 6th Chilliwack Scouts are holding a Family Day Pancake Breakfast from 9 a.m. til 12:00 noon at the United Church Hall (45835 Spadina Ave). Breakfast is $5 per person. Proceeds support Scouting adventures for 6th Chilliwack Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers (youth ages 5-18).

Abbotsford
10. Family Day at Highstreet
Fraser Valley Hughstreet is set to celebrate the recent release of Kung Fu Panda 3 on Family Day. Activities include Climbing Wall Photos with Panda, Face Painters creating Panda faces and more! Have a Panda or Kung Fu costume? $5 Highstreet Gift Cards for the first 250 kids in costume.

11. Family Day at the Mennonite Heritage Museum
Although it has been only two weeks since the Grand Opening and Dedication of the Mennonite Heritage Museum, this Fraser Valley museum is already preparing for Family Day celebrations .
Families are invited to spend time making memories and learn about Fraser Valley Mennonites and their history through the variety of exhibition-themed activities, activities and crafts, exhibition- inspired “I Spy” activity, child-friendly museum worksheets, “Paint Your Own Russian Figurine” craft, and admission to the museum’s permanent exhibition. In addition, the Mennonite Historical Society of BC, located on the second floor of the museum, will provide families the chance to discover their genealogies through the society’s extensive databases. Story time will be held at 11 a.m. and repeating at 1:3o p.m..

Surrey
12. Loads of FREE Family Fun in Surrey
Recreation centres throughout the Surrey area are offering an abundance of free activities and programs for all ages, including swimming, family yoga, crafts and ice skating – just to name a handful. There’s simply way too much to list, but you can view the link HERE.
