Original Ugly Sweater Dash Returns to Port Moody Dec. 3

Wondering what to do with that hideous holiday sweater that’s hanging in your closet from last year’s ugly sweater party?
Now’s your chance to unearth it from your closet and re-purpose it for a great cause — one that promises to be the most fun you can possibly have with your tackiest knitwear on.
The Fourth Annual Original Ugly Christmas Sweater Dash, presented by the Now That’s Ugly Society, invites the Fraser Valley to lace up their running shoes and  get a little ugly this festive season in the name of charity on Saturday, Dec. 3.
Hundreds of runners, walkers and kids of all fitness levels will flock to Rocky Point Park in Port Moody for some cardio, unlimited hot chocolate and extreme holiday cheer.
Not the athletic type? That’s okay! While you’re guaranteed to work up a sweat and burn off all that eggnog and butter tarts, this run is more about fun and philanthropy than fitness.

“This holiday fun run is the biggest, wildest, sweateriest dash of the season,” said Jordan Birch, the Society’s Executive Director. “Not only does it provide exuberant holiday cheer but it helps support the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada grant exceptional wishes for children with a life-threatening illness.”

This year the Ugly Christmas Sweater Dash will support the wish of a Maple Ridge child, Kristian. Kristian loves soccer, ball hockey, and cycling especially dirt bike riding. When he was nine- years-old, Kristian was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour.

This led to two surgeries, four rounds of chemotherapy, and seventeen radiation treatments. The Children’s Wish Foundation gave his family great memories and a much needed break from the stress and hospital visits with a trip to Disneyland and LEGOLAND.

“Last year dashers helped us make an $18,000 donation to the Children’s Wish Foundation, BC and Yukon Chapter,” said Birch. “We are excited to support them again in 2016 and continue to create smiles, have fun, and do good.”

the perfect ugly sweater is one that is so incredibly christmassy you cant help but despise and love it at the same time. Also ones with querky jokes are faboosh too! I had the perfect one a few years back – pom poms, shiny material, tassles, red knitted, a decorated tree, present & an elf. It was one that would be tough to beat – it was so UGLY!
