Murrayville House launched the first in its series of free outdoor movies on Wednesday with Back to the Future.
Families from all over the Fraser Valley and beyond flocked to Denny Ross Memorial Park in Langley to watch the classic 80’s flick on the inflatable big screen at dusk.
Moviegoers had to wait until the sun set to watch the stars under the stars, however, there was no shortage of entertainment to partake in beforehand. Some packed picnic baskets laden with goodies, while others ordered dinner from the stationed food trucks.
Paula Douglas of Richmond, was the winner of the Murrayville House Movie Nights in the Park VIP Lounge Experience.
She brought family and friends with her for her VIP Lounge Experience, which included fabulous seating, a special Murrayville House Movie Nights in the Park concierge assigned to take care of the group, popcorn, a fruit basket, and a goodie basket with red licorice, Rolos, Jolly Ranchers and York Peppermint Minis.
An enormous bouncy castle was situated on the field for hours of jumping and sliding. Young members of a local church also volunteered their time and extraordinary artistic talents to paint faces.
While Murraville House Movie Nights are free, attendees are encouraged to bring a can of food to support The Salvation Army Gateway of Hope Meal Centre.
Leading up to the movie was an impressive performance from a Langley-based all-female dance group.
Finally, the sun went down and the film lit up the park. Of course, no movie is complete without popcorn –attendees were treated to bags of free popcorn and glow sticks!
Events like this are a great way to get some fresh air, entertain the whole family without breaking the bank and connect with fellow Valleyites. Soon the sun will set on this gorgeous weather and we’ll feel disconnected during the long, dreary winter months from our neighbours – let’s get out and enjoy it while we can.

- Pirates of the Caribbean (Wednesday, Aug. 5th)
