Rain might be on the forecast for the forseeable future, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun exploring the Fraser Valley with your little one(s) in tow.

Since compiling our list last year of rainy day activities (see that post here), we’ve discovered 6 more hot spots for parents, caregiver and grandparents that are sure to brighten up those dull dark days and keep you dry.

So, grab your gum boots, umbrella and turn off The Wiggles — today, we’re going out!

1.Fiona’s Playdate CafeUnit 104 – 6820 188th Street, Surrey, Clayton Heights

Dubbed the ‘Ultimate Playdate location for babies, toddlers and preschoolers,’ Fiona’s Playdate Cafe provides families with a safe, clean environment for children to learn and grow.
Drop-in for playtime or make a reservation for a special event. Caregivers and parents can even sign up for one of their skill building, parent participation baby/toddler classes.
This is the perfect place to catch up with a friend over coffee while your little one is entertained and occupied within arm’s reach.

2. The Rock Wall Climbing Gym11455 201A St, Maple Ridge
Are your kids climbing the walls at home, but are too young for an indoor play centre? The Rock Wall Climbing Gym in Maple Ridge is a safe, friendly and exciting place to climb, meet friends and stay in shape. 3. Historic Stewart Farm House13723 Crescent Road Surrey

Imagine yourself in the period of 1890 to 1920 with a visit to Surrey’s Historic Stewart Farm in Elgin Park. From teas to special events to programs for all ages, the Farm has something for everyone, all through the unique sense of Surrey’s past. Note: The Farm reopens for the season Feb. 8, 2016 and is open until Dec. 24, 2016.

Regular hours of operation are:

Tuesday to Friday: 10am to 4pm
Saturday: noon to 4pm
Closed Sundays, Mondays and Statutory Holidays

4. Stars & Strollers, (At participating Cineplex Theatres)

Just because you’re a parent doesn’t mean you have to bid farewell to seeing movies at the theatre right when they come out. Stars & Strollers is a program offered at participating Cineplex Odeon theatres that allows parents to view a current movie in a baby friendly environment.

You have the choice of two new movies each week and will have access to a change table. There’s no need to worry about the volume upsetting your wee one – there is lowered volume and dimmed lighting. Stroller parking is available in select theatres.

Stars & Strollers is offer in theatres all over Canada. In the Fraser Valley, it’s at the following four locations:

  1. Cineplex Odeon Strawberry Hill Cinemas, 12161 72nd Ave., Surrey
  2. Cineplex Odeon Meadowtown Cinemas, #410 19800 Lougheed Highway, Pitt Meadows
  3. Cineplex Cinemas Langley, 20090 91A Ave., Langley
  4. SilverCity Mission Cinemas, The Junction Plaza, 32555 London Avenue, Mission

5. Langley Gymnastics Foundation7888 200th Street, Langley 

Looking for something to do with the kids or just wanting to get some exercise? Langley Gymnastics is currently offering their Winter Drop-In program (Jan 4 to March 13) for kids and adults of all ages and abilities. Drop-Ins are 1 to 1.5 hour in length and are essential “free play” times for you to explore the gym and have fun, all while being supervised by NCC certified gymnastic coaches. Note: Payment online is required to register for a drop-in class.

Paren & Tot Drop-In (ages: walking to 5 years) is offered Mon, Tues, Wed & Fri 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Preteen Drop-In (ages 8 to 12) is offered Fridays from 8-9 p.m.

6. Strong Start

Participate with your young child (aged birth to five) in play-based early learning activities – including stories, music and art. At no cost to families, this early learning drop-in program helps prepare children for success in Kindergarten.

The overall learning experience is shared as parents and caregivers attend with their children and are encouraged to get involved in activities like telling stories, playing games and serving healthy snacks.
