Do Lash Serums Actually Work?

While I love the look of lash extensions and falsies, I’m not a fan of the cost or time commitment involved in their upkeep.

I also tend to lose a lot of my natural lashes in the process – I just can’t seem to stop playing with them (a huge no-no).

Recently, I decided to try my luck with an eyelash serum; I’m talking about those magical elixirs that are supposed to grow your lashes to enviable lengths – no mascara or glue required.

I’ll be honest, I was super skeptical, but also very curious.

Around the same time, I received a message from Corina Metz-Hemming, a longtime ValleyMom.ca fan and Younique presenter who wanted to send me a bottle of Younique’s Moonstruck Esteem Lash Serum to review for the blog

Here’s what the lash serum looks like.

Now, with so many eyelash serums on the market that claim to grow your lashes, I know it’s super overwhelming to choose the right product. But as they say, you won’t know until you’ve tried it.

How it works

They say it takes around two weeks to really notice a difference. To speed up the process, use both morning and night.

Starting with clean lashes, I brushed the lid side of my lashes and gently swept from the middle to the tops each night before bed. I am always careful to avoid getting the product too close to my lash root, which can cause momentary tingling.

I used this product daily for four weeks, reducing use to three times per week once I was satisfied with the appearance of my lashes.

My results

I expressed to Corrina that there was no way I would blog about it if it didn’t work. However, I definitely experienced amazing results, which I was more than happy to share.

After two weeks, my lashes grew so long (double in length). I found they almost grew too long – at one point they were hitting my brow bone.

But don’t fret, they do stop growing once they hit their max length.

I now only use the formula every few days, but there is still around 50 per cent of the tube left, which is great for upkeep.

You can even use it on your brows to fill out the patchy areas — some even use on their thinning hairline.

You know what they say, the proof is in the picture.
