My heart goes out to all the families out there with a loved one working on the front lines.
This is my husband Jason. We live in Langley, B.C. and he manages a grocery store in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Every night for the last few weeks, he has come home completely depleted after pulling a 10-hour + shift.
He has been coughed on, yelled at, and has witnessed all the hoarding and ugliness of humanity. The stories would break your heart.
Grown adults scream in his face when he tells them there’s a limit on toilet paper, or that no, the delivery of Lysol wipes still haven’t arrived, which is out of the store’s control.
Honestly, I’m terrified that he could catch this virus and bring it home to me and the kids.
I find myself sitting on the opposite side of the couch when he gets home and running after him with a bottle of disinfectant after his every move.
We are currently debating whether he should move into my mom’s condo and have my mom live with us for awhile. I know our girls would be beyond devestated, but I’m at a loss of what to do.
Anyways, I guess this is my roundabout way of thanking him, and everyone else out there working in the public, for your service.
These men and women bagging your groceries, stocking your shelves, ringing you through the till are risking their lives and taking a lot of heat.
These are moms, dads, aunts, sisters, brothers… the father of my two beautiful babies.
If you can please take a moment and wish this man a Happy 39th Birthday, it would truly make my day xo
