If you haven’t already, now’s the time to start hunting for the perfect summer day camp.
Many are already filling up across the Fraser Valley, and some at capacity, or with waitlists for late-summer seasons. Don’t panic if you’re like myself and still don’t have a plan– there are still plenty of amazing options out there, including the Little Mountain YMCA Summer Day Camp in Chilliwack.
Little Mountain YMCA Summer Day Camp
For those who love the idea of a traditional YMCA camp experience but aren’t quite ready for overnights, this is such a wonderful (and affordable) option.
Children ages 5-12 years will spend fun-filled days (between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.) in the great outdoors doing activities like:
- games
- arts & crafts
- sports
Campers also enjoy global education, literacy programming, hands-on science workshops and Play it Fair games that promote respect and cooperation.
At Little Mountain YMCA Summer Day Camps, there are no classrooms or cliques, no homework or tests. Instead, there are opportunities for self-discovery, growth and skill building.
“Our programs are designed to challenge our campers, help them uncover their leadership abilities and set them on the path to reaching their potential,” said Oliver Lam, YMCA Marketing Manager.
Enthusiastic and fully certified camp counsellors work to build positive relationships with each child in the inclusive camp community, focusing on the YMCA Core Values of honesty, caring, respect, responsibility, and inclusivity.
“Year after year, the two things kids talk about long after the camp season ends are how many new friendships they made at camp and how our YMCA camps gave them a place and an experience where they could just be themselves, said Lam.”
