6 Reasons to Mark Fraser Valley Family Day on Your Mom Calendar

Looking for something to do for Family Day 2017 that’s affordable and close to home?

The Third Annual Fraser Valley Family Day returns to the Langley Events Centre on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017 offering interactive fun for all ages. Admission is by donation, and 100 per cent of the funds raised go to local charities, including Basics for Babies, the TOL Fire Department charitable society and the Life Ready foundation.

Here are just 6 reasons to mark this local event on your big ol’ Mom calendar.

1- Close to Home

I don’t know about you, but I despise a long car trip – especially with two kids quarrelling over ‘fishy crackers’ and music selection in the backseat. If we’re going to attend an event on Family Day, it has to be close to home so we don’t spend the majority of the day breaking up sibling rivalry while fighting traffic. The Langley Events Centre is less than a five-minute drive from home for our clan, making it a top contender of Family Day options here in the Fraser Valley.

2- The Free Factor

Nowadays, everything is so damn expensive that it can be tough for families to catch a break. Fraser Valley Family Day is by donation, which means you can help out some amazing local charities AND have a day of fun without breaking the bank. Psst… I also hear there will be some free tasty samples on site.

3- Embrace Your Sporty Side

From famed local mascots like Leo the Lion (BC Lions), Fin the Orca (Canucks), Bomber (Stealth), Jack the giant (Vancouver Giants) and many others to over half a dozen professional athletes in attendance, this is a great chance for the sports enthusiast to snap some selfies with their fave pro.

4- Bounce off the Walls

Tis’ the season to spend a lot of time indoors, which can result in stir-crazy kids with excessive energy to burn. Bring them along to Fraser Valley Family Day for a couple of hours to partake in the games, jump on the bouncy castles, have their faces painted and go home with a balloon animal. We attended last year and my girls loved jumping and sticking to the bouncy wall in their velcro suites. It was actually pretty hilarious!

5 – Support Local

Fraser Valley Family Day is all about celebrating our community, families, charity and the diverse businesses that make the local landscape so unique and special.

6 – It’s Getting Hot in Here

Once again, the Township of Langley fire department will be on hand to allow kids to fire the hose and tour the simulated smoke room.

Fraser Valley Family Day is presented by C&D Logistics and will be held at the Langley Events Centre Field House, 7888 200 St. Langley, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, visit the event Facebook page.
