Why We’re Joining Samaritan’s Purse Again for Operation Christmas Child

We love this time of year and know how fortunate we are as a family in beautiful B.C. We’re always on the lookout for amazing organizations that are making a big difference around the world, which is why we’re so happy to join Samaritan’s Purse again this year for Operation Christmas Child.

This super simple task of filling basic goodies for kids in need like toothbrushes, socks, crayons and books, can make a child’s Christmas shine a little bit brighter.

Our shoebox arrived last week, and Molly and Zoe were so excited to begin filling it up with goodies. To get started, we were given a choice of whether to send it to a boy or a girl and choose a designated age group. The girls decided on a 6-year-old girl.

We added a few additional supplies to our regular grocery shop, and we are thrilled with the box we’ve put together, including a personal note from our family to the child who will receive the box.

Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has brought hope for children around the world during this joyful time of year. The campaign asks individuals and families to fill shoeboxes with items such as toys, school supplies, hygiene products and a personal note, which are then delivered to millions of children around the world. Last year, over 11 million shoeboxes were collected around the world and delivered to countries like El Salvador, Senegal and Ukraine, amongst many others.

We had so much fun building a shoebox and would love for you and your family to support this amazing cause.

To join in the fun, you have 2 options:

1.Pack online from a variety of items in the online marketplace – PackaBox.ca

2. Or, fill any shoebox sized box and drop it off at your nearest drop off location.

National collection week is November 14 – 20, so get packing!!
