Timberline Ranch Country Christmas Returns

Since moving to Maple Ridge a few years ago, I have heard from so many friends that they went to camp at Timberline Ranch when they were young.

I never had the pleasure of going there as a kid because I grew up in Ontario, so I was so excited when Timberline Ranch invited us to come to their annual Country Christmas!

We drove to the end of 224th street, passed over Blaney bog (my maiden name is Blaney so this added to the excitement). It was very dark and not lit until we got to the driveway of Timberline, where we were greeted by beautiful lights. The front entrance looks like a set from a western film but it was lined with Christmas lights. Parking was free and we made our way to the registration area.

My first impression was that it felt as if I was far away from the city chaos and was instantly put in relaxation mode.

At registration, they had our name because when booking you have to register in advance and book a time slot. I was told that the entire experience would take 1.5-2 hours. Having the time slots was great because it felt much more personal and interactive without the crowds.

This event is super organized, which is always a plus when visiting with young children. We were lead to different areas of the ranch so we wouldn’t get lost on the property or miss a activity.

First, we got to vote on our favorite decorated Christmas tree that local businesses set up. After that, we were directed to the ranch bakery where we iced and decorated our very own sugar cookie. My hubby and I got to make and enjoy one as well!

After we were finished, we were met by the tractor tide — we jumped on and went for a ride around the ranch while carols played.

We arrived at a barn where the boys got to pet adorable farm animals, run in the hay maze and my oldest boy, Weston, went for his first pony ride!

Next, it was back to the tractor and to the main dining hall where we enjoyed popcorn, hot dogs and hot chocolate by the fireplace.

Overall, we all really enjoyed our Country Christmas experience. It was so nicely organized  and the staff were very friendly and warm. Weston’s favorite part was riding Sadie, Ollie’s was the cookie eating and mine was spending time together away from the bustle of the city.

Timberline Ranch Country Christmas is on until December 20th! You don’t want to miss it! For more information, visit www.timberlinechristmas.ca
