From trucks to tiaras; Children’s Wish supporters raise over $30,000 in one weekend

This past weekend saw two successful events here in the Fraser Valley to benefit the BC & Yukon Chapter of The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada

Supporters from the trucking community attended the fourth Annual APNA Truck Show, which filled the Abbotsford TRADEX with big rigs and chrome, while wee pirates and princesses flocked to The Coast Hotel & Convention Centre in Langley for the  fourth Annual Princess & Pirates Tea Party.

Although the events attracted different crowds, supporters were united by the magic of a wish. Thanks to their generosity, the two events raised more than $30,000 — enough funds for the Canadian wish granting organization to grant three wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.

For the second year in a row, my girls and I attended the royal fete in Langley. The party, which featured a lovely luncheon complete with crustless tea sandwiches and goodies, was entertaining for us moms and the children.

From hair and makeup stations to manicures and a magic show, there was plenty to do and see. This year, the event raised more than $6,500. Here are some photos from the tea party.

Ariel’s performance makes a big splash with all the little princesses and pirates.

Time for the magic show! This guy was amazing.

It’s not a tea party without a spot of tea and crustless sandwhiches.

Zoe was treated to a manicure from the Ultimate Mobile Spa. She chose pink.

The girls loved being pampered from head-to-toe.

Even us Valley Moms had a wonderful time.

About The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada

The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada is the largest all Canadian wish granting charity dedicated to granting wishes to Canadian children between the ages of 3 and 17 who are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.  For more than 30 years, Children’s Wish has worked tirelessly to grant heartfelt wishes to more than 22,000 children and their families.

This year, The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada expects to grant over 1,000 new wishes across the country with the help of volunteers and generous donors; that is approximately three wishes each and every day, all year long.  Each wish is the child’s most heartfelt wish, and carefully structured to meet the particular needs of the child and their family. Children’s Wish is a national charity with chapters in every province and territory. Visit www.childrenswish.ca for more information.
