Sizzling hot lingerie, thrilling circus acts and saucy burlesque dancers, oh my!
There’s a carnival coming to’the Valley’ this month, but this one isn’t for the kiddies. In fact, you’re going to want to hire a sitter and grab your best gal pals or hubby for this magical evening at Cascades Casino Hotel in Langley on Friday, May 29th.
It’s called A Night at the Carnival — the second annual fundraising event presented by Forever Yours Lingerie benefiting Supportive Start.
Attendees will enjoy red carpet treatment with ‘big top’ ambiance that includes a fun-filled night of lingerie, carnival games, shopping, burlesque and great food and drinks.
I had the pleasure of attending their first annual fundraising show year with my mom — we had a total blast. In fact, it was one of the top 5 events I attended all year.
This year, the team at Forever Yours Lingerie have re-created some of your favorite carnival midway games and turned them into a ‘tongue-in-cheek’ version worthy of a lingerie show. How fun is that?
Remember that frustrating game where you had to throw wiffle balls into those bouncy wicker baskets? You may just be faced with one that involves real bras and ping pong balls! How about balloon pop? This one may just involve a real model. Let your imagination run wild.
Prizes include carnival-themed toys and chances to win merchandise from their suppliers and other door prizes.
There will also be some nostalgic treats like cotton candy and freshly popped popcorn. And once again Kalala Organic Estate Winery (my personal favourite) will be pouring their wines all night.
With every ticket purchased to the show, you’ll get a voucher so your first glass is on free. You can also take comfort in knowing your money is going to a fantastic local cause. Note: VIP tickets sold out the first week!
Developed to help women who face barriers in accessing properly fitting bras, Supportive Start facilitates the donation of quality bras, panties, and toiletries to women from across the Lower Mainland.
“We have been fortunate to partner with some incredible organizations within the past year; delivering bra fit clinics and bra donations to women from Vancouver to Fort St. John,” says Forever Yours Lingerie’s owner, Sonya Perkins, who launched the charitable initiative in April 2014.
“Each bra fit clinic we have hosted introduced us to amazing women who do not have access — for whatever reason — to properly fitting bras and panties.”
How it works: Through Supportive Start, Forever Yours Lingerie collects donations of new and gently used bras of all sizes, and provides them to women-in-need through free fit clinics. In addition to bra donations, the Supportive Start initiative also provides new panties and toiletries.
“We do not want any woman who attends a fit clinic to go without a bra that is fit to them. We work with our supporters and donors to ensure we find a bra that fits – regardless of size,” notes Perkins.
Buy your carnival tickets before the show – in-store or online – to avoid the lines. The best part about these games is that all proceeds from the tickets sold benefit Supportive Start, too!
Forever Yours Lingerie was founded by Sonya Perkins and born out of the frustration to find fashion-forward, contemporary bras, lingerie and swimwear for the curvy woman. With the unique brands sourced from across Canada, the United States, and Europe, their knowledgeable team of fit-specialists will allow you to have fun with foundation-wear fashions regardless of your size. · Elly was recently part of the #ImNoAngel campaign and her schedule worked out so she could volunteer to model for this year’s event.
· All of the photography for the event has been done in-house with models participating in the show.
· The costumes used last year and this year are made by Sonya, with help from her family and the team at FYL.
