When it comes to fashion, I feel like I’m at that funny age, caught somewhere in the wasteland of ‘way too old to wear this’ and ‘still too young to rock that.’

So what is a 33-year-old Valley Mom to do…or, more like wear?

My own mom, aka ‘the Valley Nana,’ may be 20 years my senior, but looks even better in clothes than I do. That’s probably why she was more than happy to join me for a little retail therapy over at Vanilla Clothing last month.

We were both in need of some new attire to wear for a glam mother-daughter photo shoot with phoTobin Photography — my usual mom uniform of yoga pants, a Van Halen concert t-shirt and a zip-up hoodie wasn’t going to cut it.

If you haven’t been to Vanilla Clothing yet, you must put this unique boutique on your shopping bucket list.

Deanna Whissell owns this popular boutique with two locations – one in White Rock and another in Langley. Inside,  one will find great fashion for 3o-something year old women and up – most of which is designed in Canada by various talented local designers like Sweetpiece Jewelry, Sympli, Neon Buddha and Frank Lyman –  just to name a few.

As for pricing, you can find a gorgeous dress for under $100, or spend more — depending on your budget and what you’re looking for.

While my Mom and I don’t usually shop at the same stores for clothes, unless of course you count Costco, we both had no problem finding the perfect outfit for our shoot, as you can see below.

I also found something to wear (see below) to the the Canadian Internet Marketing Conference. Would you believe that purse was just $38? With two munchkins under the age of 5, I’m not sure how long it will stay white for, but it’s definitely my favourite accessory right now.
