It had been sitting, unworn, in my closet for 15 years, but I finally had the chance to wear it again.

On Oct. 18, I squeeeeeezed into my grad dress circa 1999 and headed to Cascades Casino and Convention Centre for the Silver Screen Fall Gala — an event benefiting the Langley Hospice Society and the Langley Lodge.

Thanks to Paige over at Vivid Hair Boutique & Blow Dry Bar and the talented team over at the Beauty BOUTIQUE at Willoughby Town Centre’s Shoppers Drug Mart, I was feeling red carpet- ready. My Fraser Valley 5 cohost Michael Thorne was also looking pretty fancy in a bow tie, which he did not steal from his son. Back in the spring, I was invited by Shannon Todd Booth from the Langley Hospice Society to  join the planning committee for this event. As a blogger, I get to attend a lot of fun fetes — it turns out planning parties can also be a blast, especially when you get the privilege of working alongside a great team of dedicated volunteers.

The committee decided on an ‘Old Hollywood’ theme and hired renowned celebrity impersonator Tracey Bell to entertain and dazzle the good looking crowd.

This little lady is incredible! In a matter of seconds, she transformed into show business legends Marilyn Monroe, Liza Minelli, Cher, Janis Joplin and my personal favourite — Madonna.

Through ticket sales and both the live and silent auction, the fundraising event raised around $38,000 that was split evenly between both charities.

While I could write about all the amazing things the Langley Hospice Society and Langley Lodge does for our community, I figured it would be easier to show you — Fraser Valley 5-style. Both of these videos made their debut on the big screen at the gala.

And there you have it — an unforgettable evening on the red carpet that was a real blast to the past in more ways than one. Who knows, maybe my grad dress will come in handy when Zoe graduates from high school in another 15 years.
