About Me

Welcome to The Valley Mom. I’m thrilled to have you join me on this journey through the ups and downs of motherhood, career changes, and rediscovery in my 40s.

A decade ago, with two toddlers in tow, I embarked on a blogging adventure as a stay-at-home mom. It was a way to stay connected with the world beyond nursery rhymes and diaper changes. Drawing from my background as a community news reporter, I found joy in storytelling and bringing local stories to life. Little did I know, this digital diary would become my creative outlet and a source of unexpected opportunities.

As my girls grew into camera-shy teens (who can blame them?), my passion for storytelling never waned. Yet, I felt a tug to return to the workforce. The newspaper industry had evolved, and so had I. With many former colleagues charting new paths, I took a leap of faith, pursuing a degree to become an elementary school teacher.

The journey wasn’t without its challenges. Balancing intense coursework, navigating the complexities of dating after a 19-year marriage, and the emotional toll of divorce has tested my resilience. But through it all, I found strength in community, the unwavering support of friends, and the love of my daughters.

Today, I stand on the precipice of a new chapter, embracing my role as an educator and continuing to share my experiences as TheValleyMom. From classroom triumphs to navigating the intricacies of modern parenting, this blog is a testament to the power of reinvention and the beauty of embracing change.

Join me as we explore the valleys and peaks of life, finding laughter, inspiration, and solidarity in the shared journey of motherhood.

Thank you for being a part of this community, and I look forward to sharing this adventure with you.
