5 Things I Love Friday

Have you ever come across a show, beauty product, piece of clothing, etc. that was SUCH an amazing find that you wanted to tell the world about it? That’s meeeee. While I do share a lot of my faves on Instagram, I don’t always go into too much detail. Often it’s just a quick pic in my stories that disappears. That’s why I’ve I decided to dedicate all my fabulous finds in a new weekly featured called 5 Things I Love Friday. From the scoop on juicy podcasts and addictive reads, to smutty TV shows, makeup and movies, I won’t be holding back. Straight up, these posts will not be sponsored. That means companies can’t pay me the big bucks for the praise. However, I may feature a product or service that is gifted, but ONLY if I’m obsessing over it and would reccomend it to my mom or best friend.

Okay then. Let’s cut to the chase. Here are the 5 Things this Valley Mom is LOVING this Friday.

Blume blue lavender blend
Blue Lavender Blend is vegan, organic and caffeine free.

1.Blume Blue Lavender Blend

Since becoming sober, I’m always on the lookout for new beverage ideas. I kept seeing the ads for these beautifully packaged blends from Blume on Instagram and wanted to try it out. However, I’m pretty cheap and wasn’t sure I wanted to cough up the $25 for a package. Also, the concept of adding a floral flavour like lavender to my almond milk, oatmeal, yogurt, chia pudding, etc. seemed strange and boujee, but I was still intrigued. This vegan, organic product comes in a crystal-like powder containing a blend of lavender, coconut milk, and blue spirulina. According to the website, it is formulated to sooth inflammation and settle restlessness. The first night I tried it, I made a lavender latte. This entailed taking a tsp. of the product and mixing it in my mug with just a splash of hot water. After that was blended into a syrupy substance I added in cashew milk that was heated on the stove as well as a smidge of organic maple syrup. It was so creamy and foamy, and had the most decadent and dreamy scent. Jason looked at me a little strange as I carried my cup of steaming blueish liquid to the living room, full expecting me to spit it out. But it was love at first sip. Even my kids love it!

Peleton
Proud Peleton cult member right here!

2. Peleton

Have you heard of the Peleton cult? It’s REAL and the reason I know this fun fact is that the hubs and I are members. We wear the clothes, talk obsessively about our favourite rides, instructors, etc. and get separation anxiety from our bike when we go away. If you follow me on Instagram, you already known I’m more Peleton Mom than Valley Mom lately. Sorry, not sorry! This bad boy has changed my body, has lifted my boo-tay and has made me feel so much stronger and more capable than ever. I’ve actually went out and bought a whole bunch of crop tops. I’ve also watched it help my husband out of a slump and into the best shape of his life for his 40th birthday. I’ll admit, I was nervous that I would never use it and it would end up becoming a costly coat rack. We optioned for the Bike plus model, which is the newer edition that comes with a larger screen that swivels, and all your accessories such as the yoga mat, light weights, foam blocks, bands, resistance cords, etc. I LOVE not having to get in my car and drive anywhere for a workout. Instead, I simply head to the basement for a good sweat sesh. Psst…. I have a handful of referral codes left for those considering taking the plunge (P38BWH). Also, if you do ride, follow my handle – BasicBOnaBike.

CanPrev Collagen Beauty
Found this product at Nutrition House inside Willowbrook mall.

3. CanPrev Collagen Beauty

This gooey orange stuff is like the holy grail of affordable liquid collagens. Since I started taking it a few months ago my skin has been like crazy hydrated, my hair is the longest it has ever been and my lashes are growing at rapid speed. It was an employee at Nutrition House in Willowbrook Mall who recommend this particular liquid collagen, and it didn’t disappoint. I’ve tried capsules before, but could never commit to taking them regularly with all the other vitamins I take. She told me that Can Prev’s product is really popular, effective and far cheaper than those miracle brands you see circling on social media. This bottle was around $27 and lasted me a couple of months. I just take a little cap full in the morning and don’t mind the flavour, which is an orange syrup that will remind you of that orange drink you’d get back in the day from McDonalds on sports day.

Huda Beauty Legit Lashes
Two tubes and brushes all in one.

4. LEGIT Lashes Double-Ended Mascara

Finding the perfect mascara can seem like an impossible feat. Dollars get wasted, eyes get smeared and lashes, clumpy. I’ve tried everything from that trusty pink tube from Maybeline to Benefit’s Bad Gal Lash, Lancome, and everything in between, but nothing ever wowed me. Still, I figured it must be out there somewhere, I just hadn’t met it yet. And then there was that fateful day at a Sephora with a much-hipper-than-me girl who could have been my daughter if I was a teen mom and we’d be like the Gilmour Girls. She suggested I try LEGIT Lashes Double-Ended Mascara, which retails $34. The price was a little steep but I was digging her perfect winged liner so I immediately trusted her. One side is for length and the other is for volume — so basically it’s like having two mascaras for the price of one. Confession time: It would take me 4 months to actually realize that there were two sides to this mascara, but even so, I’ve been using the same tube since Christmas.

The Other Way
Oh Jenny and Summit, you’ve overcome so

5. The Other Way

So, I know I am waaaaaaaay behind on this bandwagon, but I seriously can’t stop watching ‘The Other Way’ — a spinoff series inspired from my other favourite show ’90 Day Fiance.’ For those who don’t know what The Other Way is, it’s a ‘reality’ show on Slice TV that features six Americans from different walks of life set out on a journey across the globe to marry their soulmates. However, they must overcome a number of challenges in order to achieve success. It’s fun to watch because you get to learn about the customs and traditions of different cultures. There’s also awesome food porn and drama. I access this show by going on to TV subscriptions through Shaw on Demand, then going to TLC.

And that’s a wrap. I hope you enjoyed reading my First 5 things I Love Post. Does anything on my list tickle your fancy? Perhaps YOUUUUUU have a fabulous find you’d like to share? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments. Spill it!
